United States and Cuba is at Peace, restore Diplomatic Ties on December 17, 2014

The United States and Cuba agreed on Wednesday Dec. 17 to restore diplomatic ties that Washington severed more than 50 years ago, and President Barack Obama called for an end to the long economic embargo against its old Cold War enemy.

US credits the restoration of diplomatic ties to Pope Francis. On the same day, Pope Francis celebrates his birthday.
