Cyrus Villanueva Makes It to Top 8 of 'The X Factor Australia'
Fil-Aussie Cyrus Villanueva sang “Hold Back the River” by James Bay on “The X Factor Australia” 2015 Live Show 3 which aired on October 12, 2015.
The 19-year-old singer were among the top performances of the night alongside duo Jess & Matt. His mentor Chris Isaak has been giving him the right songs. Last week, he praised Cyrus for working very hard for his performances.
“I’m just so proud that you have a great work ethic. People don’t know what you’re like offstage. He comes to work like: ‘Yes, sir, let’s do it,’ and never complains. Just a hardworking guy and I love that about you,” Isaak said.
Cyrus, by the way, received a standing ovation from the four judges for his version of Isaak’s “Wicked Game.” And he can sell records, too! His “Wicked Game” cover charted at no. 6 on iTunes Australia’s Top 100, the highest-ranking song from among the ‘X Factor Australia’ finalists.
After his performance of "Hold Back the River," Cyrus survived the double elimination and will return next week for the Top 8 Live Show.
