Judges ng "Idol Philippines," Binatikos Dahil sa 'Discrimination' sa Isang Contestant

Recently, talent-search program "Idol Philippines" draw flak online because of the alleged 'discrimination' against one contestant. Many people were enraged when Luke Baylon, a reggae singer, did not get in the competition.

During his audition, the guitar-clad Baylon sang a rendition of Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You." In order to get to the live show, he must win the approval of three judges. Unfortunately, Luke only received one resounding 'yes' from Regine:

"Actually, I enjoyed it. I wasn’t a very clean performance. May mga flats, may mga sharp… Parang I didn’t care doon sa pagkadumi ng performance kasi it’s reggae."

According to the netizens, out of the four judges, it was only Regine Velasquez who saw the talent and potential of the contestant. Feeling that he deserves a second chance, many fans are protesting for Luke Baylon to be a wild card contender.

Although the judges' decision is sad news for Luke, it seems like he also gained some positive footing from it. Right after his audition clip aired, Luke Baylon's Youtube channel has an upsurge in followers. As of writing this, his channel already has more than 106,000 subscribers.

Hopefully, the show and the judges will give this deserving contestant a second chance. Luke Baylon might not be the typical 'birit' idol we're so used to, but he definitely brings something new to the table.
