5 Facts About Intelligent People Being Heavier Drinkers
According to a study conducted in the London School of Economics on people at the age of 39. It revealed that men and women who had obtained higher educational degrees drank twice more on a daily basis than the ones who hadn’t studied at university.

According to the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (U.S.), the National Child Development Study (U.K.) and a study from Finland of twins, smarter children become heavier drinkers than those who do not belong to the group.
It was found that the more verbal and naughty the kids were at 12, the more likely they were to be drinking at the age of 16.
3. Higher educational degrees = higher intake of alcohol as you age.
The National Survey on Drug and Health in a survey found that among college graduates, 68.4% were reported drinking versus only 35.2 %t of those who did not graduate high school, and claimed that the older you get, the more you drink, if and only you went to college.

Not-so-smart men drink more, but only because they are likely to be indulging in drinking for only short period of time. And yet those who don’t really drink at all have the lowest IQs.

According to the same study conducted to 50,000 Swiss males at the ages 18-22, moderate intake of alcohol is the smartest course.
However, there are also so much contradictory research on the relationship between alcohol and intelligence.
The first problem would be is that most studies rely on participants' self-reporting about their alcohol intake, which isn't the most reliable measure on checking the facts.
However, it turns out that smarter people prefer drinking alcohol better than the others, thus, these results could be explained with the relationship between their level of education and intelligence individuals.
