REVIEW: PLDT Free Speed Boost Upgrade
PLDT Home Fibr subscribers now enjoy a speed upgrade after the internet service provider offered free speed boost a couple of months ago.
In August 2019, this author applied and got approved for a PLDT Home Unli Fibr Plan 2899 with speeds of up to 50 Mbps for just P2,899 monthly.
For my case, the speed boost came in December 2019 with speeds of up to 100 Mbps which is twice the original for the same amount, although PLDT initially rolled out the free upgrade to selected Home Fibr and DSL subscribers since September last year.
In February 2020, PLDT gave me a free "limited time" boost of up to 150 Mbps. They said it was valid until February 29 but the free boost actually expired on March 1, 2020.
Using OOKLA's online speedtest application, it was observed that the actual download speed was ranging from 150 Mbps up to 168 Mbps and the upload speed was 160 Mbps up to 180 Mbps for the whole duration of the promo.
At home, family members enjoy 4K movies and various series on Netflix that utilizes over 15 Mbps of speed while there were laptops, desktop computer, and several smartphones accessing the web and social media simultaneously.
In a text message during the expiration day, PLDT Home has assured subscribers of upcoming exciting offers.
