This balancing act between health and economy is an illusion

Did the Delta variant make money from face shields? Did it come up with the senseless rules? Did it change its mind just now from GCQ to MECQ, further confusing the people?

Stop blaming the Delta variant for government's failed and idiotic pandemic response.

The thing that always lacked in this pandemic was urgency. Lagi tayong late sa pag-control ng border, sa pagte-test ng mga tao, at sa pagbabakuna.

It would be nice kung sana magising sila kinabukasan na may sense of urgency, but unfortunately wala. Kaya mas mabuti kung may papalit sa kanilang may sense of urgency man lang.

Isa pang problema ay palagi silang nasa “balancing” act ng pandemic: bubuksan ba ang ekonomiya pero tataas ang kaso, o lockdown pero walang trabaho. Palaging sa economic managers, hindi sa doktor, nakikinig ang IATF.

We should use the lockdowns for intensified testing and tracing, containing the potential outbreak before it gets bad. No need for a "balancing act between health and economy" bc they understand that the tradeoff is illusory: securing health is what saves the economy.

Illusion lang itong balancing na ito, kasi hindi naman gagana ang ekonomiya kung walang taong magpapatakbo nito. 

Kaya dapat mas paigtingin at pahalagahan natin ang mga frontliner, bigyan ng ayuda ang tao habang naka-lockdown (para wala na ‘yung economy balancing nila) at sana makapaghalal tayo ng taong may urge na tumulong at may urge na tapusin itong pandemiya na ito.
