BARBIE FORTEZA RENEWS CONTRACT AS A KAPUSO, PLAYS A GIRL WITH THREE DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES IN 'WISH KO LANG', TO START TAPING A NEW TELESERYE SOON
BARBIE FORTEZA just renewed her contract with GMA Artist Center, and they hosted a solo presscon for her. It is not surprising that they renew her contract since she’s really one of the most prized Kapuso properties today.
Her shows are all topraters, even the ones where she’s just a guest like in “Regal Studio Presents” and the recent “Daig Kayo ng Lola Ko” episode called “Captain Barbie”.
“I want to thank GMA for their continued support all these years,” she says. “I’m overwhelmed kasi all my friends congratulated me when they learned I renewed my contract. I really can’t ask for anything more. I feel so blessed with this wonderful gift.”
As Barbie looks back on her Kapuso journey, she shared her most unforgettable roles ever.
“Sa TV, isang favorite ko is my role as Billie Bendiola sa ‘Meant to Be’ dahil ang haba-haba lang ng hair ko doon at pinag-aagawan ako ng apat na lalaki.
"Sa totoong buhay, hindi ko pa naranasan ang ganun, pero natupad ng GMA ang dream ko na ‘yon.”
How about the movies she made?
“Sa pelikula naman, ‘yung role ko as the native girl Duwokan sa ‘Tuos’ with the superstar Ms. Nora Aunor. I had so much fun shooting the film, I had so much fun watching it. Nasa-starstruck ako kay Ate Guy habang pinapanood ko siya, and I also had fun promoting the film.
"I also enjoyed my role as a Badjao girl in ‘Laut’, which gave me an international acting award as best actress in Fantasporto Film Festival in Portugal.”
Atty. Gozon is delighted to have a brilliant actress like Barbie in GMA. "With her many successful projects, there is no denying that Barbie is one of the most accomplished, talented, and popular artists of her generation. We are happy that she will continue her long journey as a Kapuso. Congratulations, Barbie."
So when is her next teleserye after “Anak ni Waray”?
“Ay, meron na po,” she says. “Magi-start na kami ng lock in taping anytime now. We will stop before Christmas then continue after the holidays. Bale ito ang first blessing ko sa bagong taong 2022.
"Pero hindi pa puedeng i-reveal ang details kasi wala pang go signal ang management. All I can say is this is more of drama than comedy kasi lately puro romcoms ang ginagawa ko, e.”
Barbie really has a lot to be thankful for. Her lovelife is an open book and her fans are very open in embracing her relationship with Kapuso actor Jak Roberto.
They have a huge following in their vlogs and they are known together as the Jakbie love team, one of the most durable among today’s fickle young stars.
There’s some fake news circulating that they’re currently having a rift, but obviously, it’s not true. We ask Barbie how she plans to celebrate Jak’s birthday on December 2 and she says they have actually already celebrated it.
“Kasi nga, I will be in lockdown taping so, bago pa ako pumasok sa quarantine namin, inadvanced na namin yung birthday celebration namin for him.”
Meantime, she is set to play another out-of-the-box character in the Christmas special of 'Wish Ko Lang.’
“Don’t miss the episode kasi first time ko gawin ang ganoong story. The title is ‘Ang Tatlong Katauhan Sunshine’ and I play a girl with three different personalities.
"As Sunshine, she was a child abused by her dad at nag-manifest yung iba pang katauhan niya later on. As Lauren, seductive siya, sexy.
"Then as Romana, violent naman siya, very dark. Very challenging and dream role ko ito talaga, but when we were taping it na, I realized ang hirap pala niya.
"Mabuti na lang we have a psychiatrist as consultant para tulungan ako. Kasama ko rin dito si Thea Tolentino na two years kong nakatrabaho noon sa ‘The Half Sisters’, also with Mr. Carlos Agassi as my dad."
