What was once a rescue operation for my aunt, Maria Sofia Olaguir, has now turned into a murder investigation.
My aunt, whom we call "Ate Pia," went missing last Friday on Mt. Manghilao. Her body was discovered early this morning, wrapped in her jacket and her head tucked inside her bag.
She had gone to Mt. Manghilao in solitude to pray, as she was to take the Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET), which was supposed to take place today.
Other than her phone and 4,000 pesos cash, she didn't bring anything valuable worth murdering for. It is speculated that she was taken advantage of. The authorities are yet to verify this, and we are asked to not disclose any information that may hinder the investigation.
While we appreciate your prayers and condolences, my family longs for justice. The person who did this must be brought to justice. My aunt didn't deserve this fate, and nobody does. Only an ungodly man can commit such an atrocity with no hint of remorse as if they hadn't already soiled the sanctity of Mt. Manghilao right at its foot.
The authorities are using their full might to identify whoever did this. So, whoever you are, run, hide, and take refuge wherever you can. The Lord may be a forgiving God, but a bereaved family is not. By fire and by force, justice will be served.
