GMA Network, Maaaring Managot sa Nangyari kay Eddie Garcia

It's been a week since celebrated actor Eddie Garcia bid goodbye. At 90 years old, the multi-awarded actor was still healthy for his age. Throughout his career spanning seven decades, Eddie has lived a healthy lifestyle.

In spite of how careful he was, on June 8, a freak incident put his life on the line. During his taping, the elderly actor tripped on a wire which resulted in a neck fracture. On June 20, Eddie Garcia's body finally gave up.

Due to his untimely passing, many people cried foul over the incident. The focus shifted on GMA Network, whose lack of medical team during the taping was questionable. Recently, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said that the network may be held liable.

"Iinspeksyunin nila kung tama ‘yung pagkahawak kay Mr. Eddie Garcia. Kung merong safety and health officer, baka nabigyan ng tamang treatment when he had that accident," said Bello during his interview with CNN Philippines.

Furthermore, the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) claimed that they are already conducting a probe about this matter. If GMA network will be found liable, they will pay a fine up to Php 100,000 per day.

Even if the actor's family will not file a complaint, the OSHC still have the authority to impose a penalty, depending on the seriousness of their lapses.
