Mga Kababaihan na Ini-Snob ang Nakatayong Lolo sa Tren, Umani ng Batikos Online

It is customary for us Filipinos to offer our seat to elderly and people in need in public transportation. When spotted, people who fail to do this often get flake on social media for 'insensitivity.'

Recently, a similar incident once again went viral on social media. Thousands of netizens were enraged after seeing this viral photo of a standing senior citizen. In a jam-packed LRT, an elderly man can be seen standing in front of women.

What enraged the netizens is the fact that none of the women tried to offer their seat to the old man. As seen on the photo, one of them was in her phone, while the others seem to be talking with one another.

The old man in front of them was clearly having difficulty balancing himself in the middle of the moving train, yet none of them offered their seat. For many people on social media, this is a blatant display of 'indifference.'

In public utility vehicle, senior citizens have allocated seats, as well as pregnant women and persons with disability. These allocated seats are available in jeepneys, buses, and trains. But due to cramped space, most senior citizens find themselves robbed of this special seating.

On the other hand, some netizens gave the women the benefit of the doubt. Some claimed that it is possible that the old man offered his seat first.
