Pulubing Hindi Nabigyan ng Limos, Nambato ng Kotse sa EDSA
In the past, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has advised against giving alms on beggars in EDSA. This is a modus operandi of people who are taking advantage of drivers. In fact, there have been several reported cases when drivers were robbed the moment they open their car door.
However, what would you do if the beggar you encounter is threatening you? This is exactly the terrifying encounter of a lady driver named Mane Teodoro. On Facebook, Mane recalled her experience while driving in the inner lane of Guadalupe North Bound.
As expected, during the rush hour, this part of EDSA always experiences heavy traffic. Mane's car was slowly inching forward when a male beggar suddenly halted her. According to Mane, the beggar was asking for alms, with a stone in his one fist.
"Magaabot sana ako ng barya para di nya batuhin, binuksan ko konti yung window, sabi nya gusto nya daw 100 pesos. So sabi ko wala. kinabahan na ko eh. Pinilit nyang ipasok kamay nya sa window."
Out of frustration, the beggar strikes Mane's windshield twice. Due to the slow traffic, the driver was not able to get away immediately. Because of this, the beggar still had the chance to hit her door with the stone.
On the other hand, the culprit has already been identified on Facebook. Apparently, this is not the first time that this happened. Based on the recollections of other victims, the beggar chooses lady drivers.
