China Donates Test Kits, Medical Supplies To Fight COVID-19 in Philippines

China has donated hundreds of thousands of test kits, surgical masks and other medical supplies to fight COVID-19 in the Philippines.

The donation arrived in Manila and was received by Philippines officials on Saturday, March 21, 2020.

"The donation from Chinese Government including 100,000 test kits, 100,000 surgical masks, 10,000 N95 masks, and 10,000 sets of personal protective EQUIPMENT arrived in Manila this morning. Ambassador Huang Xilian delivered the goods to Foreign Secretary Teddy Locsin at NAIA," the Chinese Embassy in Manila posted on Twitter.

Locsin and other Filipino officials "received the donations around 6:00 this morning to rush the donations to the Department of Health (Philippines) and equip the medical workers and healthcare front-liners combating the #COVIDoutbreak," a post by the Integrated Development Studies Institute read.

The donation arrived week after China's promised delivery of 2,000 high-tech-test-kits "after some import protocol and flight delays, China's own recovery efforts, and global war vs COVID," according to the post.

In a statement, China Ambassador Huang Xilian "reaffirms that the Chinese people stands ready to help their Philippine brothers and sisters to go through this difficult time."

As of this posting, over 81,000 people have been infected with SARS-COV-2 in China while the Philippines has 230 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
