Woman Tells Police She's Beyoncé Knowles After Being Arrested For Joyriding
The woman, who looks nothing like the 'Single Ladies' singer led the police on a chase and said 'she didn't feel like pulling over' when questioned about not stopping the vehicle.
A woman who was arrested for joyriding in New Mexico decided to introduce herself as Beyonce Knowles to the authorities, on Saturday, March 7, according to the police.
Surena Henry, 48, who hails from Las Cruces in New Mexico is alleged to have named herself as 'Queen Bey' when she was caught in a car that had reportedly been stolen. As per court documents, the woman had flatly refused to pull over and stop for the cops while at a traffic stop. Her refusal to pull over resulted in a police chase.
Eventually, the woman was arrested when she drove herself home and got out of the car. However, she had refused to tell the authorities her real name and instead told them that she was the 'Single Ladies' singer. Interestingly, Henry is around 10 years older than the ex Destiny's Child' singer and looks nothing like her.
Henry was later identified after she was booked and had her fingerprints taken at the Dona Ana County Detention Center. According to the police, she already had a municipal bench warrant out for her as she had failed to appear to court for an earlier, unrelated charge.
Henry shared with officers that she had found the car with the keys still in the ignition and admitted that she had taken the car away. When asked by the authorities as to why she did not pull over when requested, Henry said that she "didn't feel like pulling over."
She was charged with one count of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, one count of concealing identity and resisting or obstructing an arrest. Henry's case is very similar to another case where a man, Matthew Bushman from Toronto who was arrested for allegedly giving the police a fake name and date of birth despite having his name 'Matty B' tattooed across his throat.
The Mattoon Police Department Facebook page explained, "Mattoon Police arrested Matthew C Bushman, 36 years of age of Mansfield, IL, for the offense of Obstructing Justice. The arrest occurred on 10/11/2019 at 6 pm at the Coles County Jail. The charge alleges that on 10/08/19 MPD was investigating a forgery involving Mr. Bushman, during which time Mr. Bushman provided police with a false name and date of birth to avoid arrest on an active Peoria Co warrant."
