Aleng Nagbigay ng Gulay sa Community Pantry, Hinangaan ng Mga Netizens
“Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country,” as once said by former US President, John F. Kennedy. That one inspiring quote is what the Sangguniang Kabataan or SK President Anford Aquino holds up for his principles as the leader of the community youth in a barangay in Pamplona, Cagayan Valley especially now that their project is to establish and run a community pantry in the midst of the pandemic.
But he and his ten other volunteers did not expect what this old lady did to the community pantry and what happened next really surprised everyone in the community pantry.
The old woman, who doesn’t seem to come from a well-off background and wearing worn-out clothes, donated her own vegetable harvests in the pantry instead of taking some for herself and her family. Her actions served as an inspiration for many others especially when they knew that her family belongs to those in the poverty line and that she had to fend for her young children.
Aquino also took the opportunity to thank those who helped and volunteered to put up the community pantry in their area to help the unfortunate, and those who has been deeply affected by the pandemic.
The post also garnered many reactions from netizens, most especially commending the action of the woman who helped in her own way despite having nothing for her own.
It goes to show that those who have experienced real poverty in life turned out to be the most generous and willing to help others who are in the same situation as they are
