DIRECTOR JERRY SINENENG DIRECTS FIRST TELESERYE AS A KAPUSO, 'WIDOW'S WEB', STARRING ASHLEY ORTEGA
DIRECTOR JERRY SINENENG gets his first teleserye assignment as a Kapuso in the new mystery-drama series, “Widow’s Web”, written by RJ Nuevas and Jimuel de la Cruz.
Jerry started directing in ABS-CBN’s “Maalaala Mo Kaya” then went on to helm hit teleseryes like “Esperanza”, “Kahit Isang Saglit”, “Walang Hanggan” and “La Luna Sangre”.
He also made hit films like “Way Back Home”, “Maybe This Time”, and “Soltera”, which he also wrote and for which he won a best screenplay award.
“This is a new chapter in my life and career and I’m so excited to work with a new group of actors, creative team, staff and crew who I have never worked with before,” he says.
“I’ve always believed that life is a continuous learning process and I’m excited to interact with a new crop of people and also learn from them.”
“Widow’s Web” is the biggest break of Ashley Ortega who has been identified before with mostly contravida roles like in “Super Ma’am” and “Sahaya”.
More recently, Ashley made quite an impression as the villainous Marriam in the recently concluded “Legal Wives” and, obviously, GMA bosses feel that she is now ripe for stardom.
In “Widow’s Web”, Ashley will play the pivotal role of Jackie Antonio-Sagrado, the mysterious widow.
The show’s story conference was held a few days ago and also playing starring roles in “Widow’s Web” are Carmina Villaroel and Pauline Mendoza, who were just seen together in the teleserye “Babawiin Ko ang Lahat”.
“I am so thankful to GMA Network for giving me this big break,” says Ashley.
“Matagal ko nang hinihintay ito and now that it’s here, I promise hindi ko sasayangin ang pagtitiwala nila sa akin and I will do all my best para magampanan ko nang mahusay ang role na ibinigay nila sa akin.
"I look forward to working with all my co-stars and also with Direk Jerry Sineneng who’s one of the best directors sa kabilang network at ngayon ay Kapuso na.”
After the story con, the cast immediately went on quarantine in time for their lock in taping that will end before Christmas Day so they can all spend the Holiday Season with their respective families.
The leading men in the show include Edgar Allan Guzman, Dave Bornea, Adrian Alandy and Arthur Solinap.
The supporting cast includes Allan Paule, Vaness Del Moral, plus newcomers Anjay Anson, Vanessa Pena and Karenina Haniel.
“Widow’s Web” will be one of the initial offerings of the Kapuso Network come the new year, along with other shows that are also currently on lock in taping, like “I Can See You” with Dingdong Dantes, “First Lady” with Sanya Lopez, “Artikulo 247” with Benjamin Alves, “Mano Po Legacy” with Barbie Forteza, and “Little Princess” with Jo Berry.
