DON'T MISS NEW HUNK JOLO ESTRADA'S TV DEBUT IN 'ETHAN'S RETURN' ON 'REGAL STUDIO PRESENTS' THIS SUNDAY AFTERNOON
JOLO ESTRADA is making his television debut this Sunday afternoon in the episode “Ethan’s Return” of “Regal Studio Presents”. What is the story all about and what is his role?
“I play Clark, best friend ni Joaquin Domagoso as Ethan,” he says. “Girlfriend niya si Thea Tolentino as Grace. Kaso biglang namatay si Ethan and nalipat sa akin ang pagtingin ni Grace.
"The story is kind of magical, kasi just as when we’re getting close, biglang bumalik si Ethan. So, mysterious kung ano ang mangyayari.”
Aside from this, he has also finished a movie for Regal, “Seasons”, shot in Ilocos Norte.
“Ka-love triangle ako nina Lovi Poe and Carlo Aquino. Mababait silang lahat, lalo si Lovi. Kapag nagkakamali ako, she tells me, okay lang yan. Pati ang aming director, si Easy Ferrer, who also directed the episode this Sunday sa ‘Regal Studio Presents’.
"Direk Easy is sobrang chill na director at very patient with me kasi alam niyang baguhan lang ako. I took a two-day acting workshop before the shooting started and it helped me a lot.”
He had a funny first meeting with Joaquin Domagoso, the son of Mayor Isko Moreno, on the set of “Regal Studio Presents”.
“I told him I know his dad but he didn’t know kung sino ako,” says Jolo. “So someone told him kung sino ang papa ko and kung sino ang lolo ko. Everything went well between us. Masaya siyang katrabaho.”
He is excited to watch himself on Sunday in “Regal Studio Presents”.
“Bale this is my first appearance on TV. I’ve done a movie before with my dad, ‘Ang Tatay Kong Sexy’, where I played a supporting role.
"But after that, hindi na ako nag-showbiz kasi I went back to college to finish my studies. Ngayon lang uli ako nagkaroon ng opportunity to return to showbiz.”
Jolo also helps his dad in hosting “Jingflix”, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada’s online show on Facebook every Wednesday and Friday where they play games with the audience and give away lots of prizes.
"Kasama rin namin ang uncle ko, Jake Ejercito, but right now, he’s busy sa lock in taping. I am enjoying hosting and I really want to try it and be a good host, like Luis Manzano or Robi Domingo.”
How about politics?
“I am not closing my doors. Siguro a couple of years from now. But right now, I’m enjoying acting and my dream is to be given more challenging acting roles.
"I want to do a role like James MacAvoy’s role in the movie ‘Split’, a man with multiple personalities. It would be something new for local cinema.”
Is there pressure from his family to be as “sikat” as his grandpa, former Joseph Estrada?
“Wala naman. My parents are both just very encouraging. Hindi nila ako pine-pressure at all na maging kasing-sikat ng Lolo ko kasi he really a big superstar in his heydays. Right now, I am just enjoying what I am doing.”
