GMA NETWORK AND ARTIST CENTER MAKE SURE THEIR TALENTS ARE TRAINED WELL WITH BOY ABUNDA TEACHING THEM ABOUT PUBLIC SPEAKING

GMA NETWORK makes sure their talents are always undergoing training programs that will help them improve their craft even in this season of the pandemic.

One of these programs is “The Breakout Room: Master Class Series”, a virtual roundtable discussion where top-notch mentors impart knowledge about their craft. Talented industry experts, leaders, and professionals impart their knowledge as resource persons to the various participants as GMA Artist Center continues to provide international standard workshops for its artists.

Recently, seasoned TV Host and Philippine King of Talk Boy Abunda shared his expertise as mentor during the third batch of the Breakout Room: Master Class Series last November 16 and 23.

Tito Boy, who has been in the show business as a talk show host for more than two decades, taught the art of public speaking to more than 20 Artist Center talents.

Julie Anne San Jose, Rayver Cruz, Ken Chan, Rita Daniela, Barbie Forteza, Martin Javier, Sophia Senoron, Kyline Alcantara, Luane Dy, Glaiza De Castro, Jose Sarasola, Patricia Tumulak, Gil Cuerva, Ruru Madrid, Miguel Tanfelix,

Derrick Monasterio, Sanya Lopez, Ysabel Ortega, Sanya Lopez, Bianca Umali, Khalil Ramos, Gabbi Garcia, Ashley Rivera, Rocco Nacino, Arra San Agustin, Lexi Gonzales, and Rain Matienzo attended the virtual workshop.

Consultant for Comedy, Infotainment, Game and Reality Productions Bang Arespacochaga, Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara, and GMA Artist Center Consultant Johnny Manahan also attended the event.

"As in all my classes, I don't say I'm going to teach you what you want to do," says Tito Boy at the beginning of the workshop.

"Instead, I would like to help you discover yourselves. I'd like to help you discover your power to tell your story. I'd like to journey with you as you explore, as you examine, as you provoke your question, and most importantly, as you commit mistakes along the way. One of the best ways to learn in the talk business is to commit mistakes."

Before the actual workshop, the Philippine King of Talk sent out a declaration that urged the artists not to judge themselves as they practice public speaking.

"Learn all the rules because only then can you break them. Sometimes the best way to create something original is by breaking it. And breaking it is sometimes by committing mistakes," encouraged Abunda.

The second round of the public speaking workshop was more interactive as artists were required to participate in a mock interview presentation.  This coming year, expect more training workshops to be instituted for Kapuso talents to hone them in various aspects of entertaining the audience.
