Globe, GCash offer OFWs roaming promos, convenient money transfers

Globe and mobile wallet service GCash have partnered to empower overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to support and stay connected with their families back home, offering affordable roaming promos and convenient money transfers.

Under the partnership, OFWs with Globe Prepaid or TM SIM cards can use GCash to easily top-up and register cheap roaming promos that enable them to stay connected with their families. At the same time, Globe's Roam Surf data promos include free GCash access, allowing customers to easily send money to loved ones, pay bills, and manage other financial transactions.

Globe Roaming Promos

With Globe's first-ever GCash-exclusive roaming promo, Roam All Net 99, OFWs can save more than PHP 4,200 on roaming calls and texts. For only PHP 99 per day, OFWs can enjoy 30 minutes of outgoing and incoming calls, as well as 30 all-net texts.

While OFWs and their families in the Philippines are able to communicate via various messaging apps, nothing beats the crystal-clear calls made via IDD. As such, Globe made it easier for Filipinos to communicate with these modern-day heroes by incorporating affordable International Direct Dial (IDD) promos into GCash services.

Families of OFWs can receive up to 80 minutes in call credits to North America and Asia, and 40 minutes to Europe and Africa, through Globe's GOCALL IDD offers.

They can select from the app's four GOCall IDD variants: GOCALLIDD 30/50/99/199. Additional information is available at glbe.co/GOCALLIDD.

Globe subscribers in the Philippines may also use the "Buy Load" feature on GCash to purchase a roaming promo for their loved ones abroad. They will just enter the recipient's phone number and select the roaming offer under the Roaming & Int'l tab.

GCash's convenient money transfers

The partnership provides convenience and expanded coverage. Sending money using GCash requires fewer details than sending money via bank transfer and can be done securely via mobile.

Moreover, GCash has remittance partners in over 31 countries, making it easier for OFWs to cash in and transfer funds to other GCash users.

Personal remittances from OFWs increased by 5.1 percent to an all-time high of USD 31.4 billion last year, following a decline of 0.8 percent to USD 29.9 billion in 2020 due to COVID-19's devastation of the global economy. The BSP projects that OFW remittances will increase by 4% this year as more Filipinos are redeployed to other countries.

Coco Domingo, Globe Vice President for Postpaid and International Business, said that "Globe and GCash have a shared proposition of empowering the OFW community to remain in control of their finances and stay connected with their families while abroad."

"Now, sending money and paying for expenses of those back home, plus subscribing to roaming offers, can all be done in just one app," added Domingo.
