Globe, most consistent mobile operator in PH for Q1 2022 —Ookla
Globe was named the most consistent mobile operator in the Philippines in the first quarter of 2022, according to internet analytics firm Ookla. Moreover, the telco earned the best 5G mobile video award for Q3 to Q4 2021.
This results in a more enhanced video experience for Globe customers who use social media and streaming platforms such as Facebook Live, Netflix, and YouTube, as well as those who do online gaming.
Globe has a nationwide consistency score of 79.45 from January to March 2022, up from 70.43 at the same time last year, according to the most recent Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data in the country. The telco's increasing trend continues, as its current score is even higher than its fourth-quarter 2021 level of 79.02.
Calabarzon dominated the list of areas with an improved consistency score of 81.26 for the first quarter, followed by Central Visayas at 73.95. Bicol scored 73.02.
The mobile consistency score is calculated based on the number of tests performed at speeds greater than a specified threshold. The higher the numbers, the more likely users will have an acceptable level of internet performance and quality.
Globe spent a record PHP 92.8 billion in 2021 to build 1,407 new cell sites, install 1.4 million fiber-to-the-home lines, and activate over 2,000 5G outdoor and in-building sites.
Globe would invest P89 billion this year to develop new cell sites, improve existing ones to 4G/LTE, speed the launch of 5G connectivity, and further fiberize Filipino households.
