Bearded Men Carry More Pathogen than Dogs Do, Study Claims

According to a new study, men with beards are more prone to microbes that they carry higher amount of germs more than the dogs do.

In a feature report in KUTV Channel 2, it stated that beards are totally and currently "in," but having beards are not actually good to health as they bring about multiple of dirty elements.

Researchers took testing samples by taking swabs from the beards of 18 men, ages around 18 to 76 years old, and furs in the necks of 30 dogs.

Scientists confirmed that beards of men carried more germs than dogs carried in their fur.

The study discovered multiple amount of bacteria in the every sample of beard that they collected.

Almost half of the findings showed that the samples contained pathogen that can cause various illnesses and bacteria that are considered to be hazardous to human health.

Daily Mail reported that dogs who undergone the same test had found to be having lower amounts of bacteria that could trigger diseases.

However, the KUTV 2 News only made a report on this and did not actually participate in the study and therefore could not verify its results or findings.

The aim of the study is primarily to determine whether humans could be infected by dog-borne disease from an MRI, and came out with the conclusion that men with beards are actually bearing more pathogen than the dogs do.

Researchers showed that out of 30 dogs, only 23 had higher amounts of microbial counts, and that all bearded men in the study were revealed to have high counts.

"On the basis of these findings, dogs can be considered as clean compared with bearded men," Dr. Andreas Gutzeit, of Switzerland's Hirslanden Clinic told the Daily Mail.

The founder of the Beard Liberation Front, Keith Flett, told the Daily Mail that he doubts the findings.

"I think it's possible to find all sorts of unpleasant things if you took swabs from people's hair and hands and then tested them. I don't believe that beards in themselves are unhygienic."
